SN1 takes in Swindon Town Centre, Old Town, Eastcott, Railway Village, Lawn, Okus, Kingshill and the slopes around Broome Manor. Older gardens here are rarely flat. A fence often has to step, and a patio needs sleeper beds before it will stay level.
SN2 is Walcot, Park North, Park South, Rushey Platt, Rodbourne, Gorse Hill, Pinehurst, Penhill and Moredon. A lot of these plots sit on clay that holds water. Gravel boards and concrete posts matter more here than a cheap timber post that rots at the ground.
Access is the other issue. Railway Village, Gorse Hill and parts of Rodbourne mean boards come through the house or down a narrow side path. We price that in, rather than discovering it on the day.

What the ground is like
Clay in SN2
Walcot, Pinehurst and Gorse Hill hold water. Concrete posts and gravel boards last. Timber posts in wet clay do not.
Slopes in Old Town
Stepped fencing and sleeper terraces keep soil off the back of the fence instead of pushing it over.
Tight access
Town gardens often have no rear gate. We plan how materials get in before the quote is fixed.
